Protecting Instructional Time

As we begin a new school year, we would like to take this time to remind families of the importance of instructional time. Teachers and students are working hard all day learning together. It is vital that interruptions do not occur throughout the day so that learning time is maximized. Our Joe Henderson policy continues to be as outlined below. We greatly appreciate your support in ensuring our teachers and students are able to dedicate every minute of every day to their teaching and learning.
  • Phone calls to classrooms are strictly prohibited during class time, unless it is an emergency, in which case, you will need to call the office and the office staff will alert your child's teacher immediately.
    • To avoid having to call for non-emergencies, please be sure your child know where he/she needs to go after school BEFORE arriving to school in the morning (ie-meet at the flag pole, go to Homework club, etc)
  • If your student has forgotten an item at home, you can deliver it to the main office. From there, it will either be put in your child's teacher's mailbox or placed on the stage in the lunch room for children to retrieve upon entering for lunch
    • To avoid this from happening, please be sure your child is prepared each and every day with everything they will need
  • Our teachers appreciate communication via e-mail. Throughout the day they are able to check their inbox frequently for messages.
  • If you need to speak with your child's teacher, please do so before or after school, or e-mail to make an appointment.
