Beginning Monday, March 19, the playground/black top area will be a Student ONLY zone from 8:20-8:30a.m. We ask that parents either drop their children off in the circle loop or seek street parking, walk them to the gates, and let them enter on their own. Thank you, in advance, for supporting this policy and helping to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
Please review the following excerpt from the letter previously sent home by Mrs. Buck regarding school safety:
“We are a community and make it a priority to know all of our families, but on occasion we don’t recognize someone. We require ALL visitors, even family, to check in with our main office. We are working to ensure that any adult entering our campus is cleared by providing I.D. to be cleared through Megan’s Law (registered sex offenders) and have TB clearance. This is BUSD policy, and a safety measure. To that end, it is our intent to extend this practice to entering campus before school at 8:20 a.m. We are not able to monitor who is with our children from 8:20 – 8:30 with our current practices, and aim to remedy this unsafe practice to keep our students safe. More information will be sent home about this change soon, as we want to give parents ample time to adjust. We always want families to feel welcome, and all families will be welcomed at the main office.”
